Artist notes

Jamison Kee

Jamison Kee is identified in several jewelry references as a Navajo silversmith. We have three stone-set rings by him: lapis, malachite, and spiny oyster.

Marks & signatures

K
A simple K is associated with Jamison Kee.

The mark is useful, but it is not unique to him. Other Native makers have used K marks too, so a K by itself is not enough to identify a piece as Kee’s. Our current ring photos do not show a maker mark clearly enough to use as our own hallmark example.

Styles & materials

The three rings we have share the same basic construction: an oval stone, twisted-wire border, three silver beads, and an open split shank. Other published examples show his name on other kinds of jewelry, so these rings are only a small sample of his work.
